Out April 4 via Ninja Tune – New Single Besties Out Now

Black Country, New Road return with their highly anticipated third studio album, ‘Forever Howlong,’ arriving April 4 via Ninja Tune. Marking their first studio release since 2022’s ‘Ants From Up There,’ the album finds the band reinventing themselves once again, building on their reputation for musical evolution and fearless creativity.

Produced by James Ford (Fontaines D.C., Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, Blur), ‘Forever Howlong’ brings a fresh new dynamic to the band’s sound, with Tyler Hyde, Georgia Ellery, and May Kershaw all sharing vocal and songwriting duties.

“Having three girls singing created a real through-line for the album,” says Ellery. “It’s definitely different from ‘Ants From Up There,’ both in perspective and in the way the music complements that shift.”

Alongside the album announcement, the band has released its joyous, expansive lead single Besties, featuring lead vocals from Georgia Ellery—marking a first for a Black Country, New Road studio track.

The band has also released the official music video for Besties, directed by Rianne White (Young Fathers, Aurora, Kae Tempest), followed by a live Q&A on YouTube.

A New Chapter for Black Country, New Road

From the start, Black Country, New Road have thrived on reinvention. Their 2021 debut, ‘For the first time,’ landed a Mercury Prize nomination, and just a year later, ‘Ants From Up There’ hit #3 on the UK Albums Chart. In 2023, they delivered the widely praised ‘Live at Bush Hall,’ a five-star “magical resurgence” (The Guardian) that showcased the band’s ability to transform and move forward.

Now, ‘Forever Howlong’ takes their sound to new and uncharted territory—a sprawling yet cohesive collection that blends folk, baroque pop, alt-rock, and prog, drawing influence from Joanna Newsom, Randy Newman, Fiona Apple, and Janis Ian, all while maintaining that unmistakable Black Country, New Road identity.

With a tracklist ranging from sweeping orchestral arrangements to raw, emotionally charged compositions, ‘Forever Howlong’ embraces change while capturing the essence of what has always made the band so compelling.
