MOTHERSGUILT captures a raw exploration of inner battles and the crushing weight of societal expectations. With themes of mental exhaustion, self-doubt, and the constant struggle to keep up, the track feels both personal and powerfully universal.
“It’s been a while since our debut record – we even lived through a pandemic – and that changes you. We pushed ourselves to amplify the best parts of ‘Never Better,’ while daring to add something entirely new. We’re thrilled to share this single with everyone,” shares Phil G. from Burnt Tapes.
About Burnt Tapes
From their basement beginnings in Athens, Greece, Burnt Tapes have always been about more than just music – they’re storytellers who blend raw punk energy with the emotional nuances of sadness, nostalgia, and mental health. Now calling London home, their signature sound fuses anthemic hooks with empowering guitar riffs and fierce vocals, drawing comparisons to bands like Basement and The Menzingers.
The band’s journey has taken them across the UK, US, Europe, and Japan, playing over 200 shows in 20 countries and cultivating a devoted following along the way. Sharing stages with bands like Spanish Love Songs, Flatliners, Red City Radio, and MakeWar, and rocking festivals such as Manchester Punk Festival, Rebellion Fest, and Booze Cruise, Burnt Tapes have built a reputation for unforgettable live performances.
Their debut EP ‘Alterations’ in 2017 set the scene, leading up to the critically acclaimed LP ‘Never Better’ in 2019, which featured standout singles like Yuzi and Don’t Make me Play Bocelli. These tracks earned a spot on Spotify’s “New Punk Tracks” and “Punk Unleashed” playlists alongside acts like Tigers Jaw and Cloud Nothings. Now, with ‘New Lungs’ on the horizon for summer 2025, Burnt Tapes are ready to prove once again that their punk spirit is as vibrant as ever.
