Chromatics have shared You’re No Good, the first video lifted from their seventh studio album ‘Closer to Grey,’ which was released earlier this week. Visualizing the lyrics’ depiction of entrapment in a relationship, the video sees Chromatics locked in a cycle of hazy and at times startling visuals. It perfectly captures what the LA Times describes as the album’s ability to convey “moments . . . of beauty and bleakness.” Watch the video clip via YouTube below.
Glimmering imagery tinted with gore, You’re No Good features the bandmates trapped among neon lights, metallic masks, and chromed-out instruments. Just as you make out the contents of one image, it slowly dissolves to another for a psychedelic and slightly unnerving effect. Crimson and magenta hues further imbue a sense of warmth as well as unease, as if everything lays just upon the edge of a knife. “That’s all we ever do…” murmurs lead singer Ruth Radelet, who calmly resigns herself to her fate.
