Cigar Cigarette X MOTHERMARY share ‘Time After Time’ cover

Cigar Cigarette featuring MOTHERMARY have released a cover of the classic track Time After Time by the iconic visionary Cyndi Lauper.

Cigar Cigarette said: “We wanted to transpose Cyndi Lauper’s vignettes of New York life onto an audio collage that is suited to a dust-covered, post-apocalyptic city. To emphasize the mirroring in the title we used unanchored percussive drones and staggered repetitive hits. That combined with the wall of booming live drums, thick modular synth, distorted bass and electric guitar all coalesce to repeat the same part, as if the source of this time loop we’re living in is finally surfacing from deep within the subway tunnels and bursting out of the asphalt on 7th avenue into an empty and abandoned Times Square.” Listen to the track via YouTube below.

Featured in this dark duet is Elyse Winn of MOTHERMARY – an electro-pop twin duo out of NYC. MOTHERMARY has released three singles on Italians Do It Better in 2020 and has a full length on the way. Elyse and Chris (Cigar Cigarette) have been long time collaborators in multiple capacities including music, art and live performances. 
 
Cigar Cigarette is the solo project of producer, sound engineer, and multi-instrumentalist Chris McLaughlin. It’s been a busy past year for Chris, just having engineered Kanye West’s ‘Sunday Service’ most recent album, and just in the studio with Naeem fka Spank Rock. With ten years of production work also including Justin Vernon of Bon Iver, Fabrizio Moretti of The Strokes’, Neon Indian & much more, McLaughlin’s debut project deals in booming emotion rooted in distorted guitar amplifications and ominous synthesizer dramatics.
