Last year, Cola, the new project from former Ought members Tim Darcy and Ben Stidworthy and US Girls/The Weather Station drummer Evan Cartwright, released their debut LP ‘Deep In View’ via Fire Talk Records. Earning praise from outlets like Pitchfork, NPR, FADER, Stereogum, Uproxx, Paste, BrooklynVegan, Consequence, Clash, NME and Rolling Stone who named the band an Artist You Need To Know and called their debut “one of the year’s most thrilling rock statements,” the album was one of the year’s most acclaimed debuts, and launched the band on a year of touring in support of the release.

Ahead of an extensive run of dates in the US, UK and Europe, the band are sharing their first new music since their LP, the tightly constructed Keys Down If You Stay. Watch the video for Keys Down via YouTube below.

A live staple for the band, Keys Down If You Stay captures Cola at their meditative best. Subdued but subtly propulsive, the track wrings an unusual tension from its sparse arrangement, built around a hi hat-centered beat that came to Cartwright in a dream.

“Evan woke from a dream one morning: the three of us jamming with the memory of this exact drum part still etched in his mind,” Darcy explains. “That was how this one started…

“‘Keys Down If You Stay’ has already become a live staple for us so we were thrilled to finally lay it down earlier this year. Our friend OK Pederson created the brilliant video for the track, a piercing and funny take on Cost Of Living.”

Cola’s 2023 tour dates will begin in Toronto on April 19th at the great Baby G.
