Digits live @ Wrongbar March 22 10:30 pm – Canadian Music Fest 2013

I had heard a lot of buzz about Digits over the past little bit by The Fader, The Guardian, and the Toronto Star, and was intrigued by the Street Violence video. When I went to Wrongbar to check him out for Canadian Music Fest 2013, I was surprised by his minimal set-up with Microkorg, midi keyboard, trigger / looping pedal and laptop, and lack of lighting / projections. There was a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach that this was going to be a total disaster, but as soon as Digits started his first beat, I was fully on-board.


Digits aka Alt Altman mixes multiple styles that look back to the “masters” of the 1980’s sound like OMD and Depeche Mode but somehow makes it modern again with his passionate vocals. Song after song, he danced and sang his heart out and the audience had no choice but to join in, and at least bob their head. His music is available in many places on the Internet for free, which is a distribution model Wired praised him for.
