Vancouver trio Fake Shark (formerly Fake Shark Real Zombie) have announced September tour dates supporting Die Mannequin and new single, Cheap Thrills, released last month via Light Organ Records. Fake Shark will perform at this year’s Ponderosa Festival in Rock Creek, BC before joining Die Mannequin in Winnipeg, September 23, wrapping in Vancouver on October 2.

Cheap Thrills initially premiered via BBC6 who called it, “Fantastic new funk pop with thumping, bumping and grinding dirty bass and a big dose of dreamy vocals”. For Cheap Thrills, vocalist/songwriter Kevvy, guitarist Louis Wu and bassist Tony Dallas, joined forces with Hot Hot Heat/Mounties/Fur Trade frontman Steve Bays, who produced Cheap Thrills and directed the video. Cheap Thrills is the first taste from a new full-length Fake Shark are currently putting the finishing touches on – a perfect single to celebrate summer. Along with a streamlining of the band’s name, there’s been a conscious effort to tighten up the band’s musical center. With the new LP, Fake Shark have settled into a groove-heavy vibe, yet it still crackles with the touchstones and foundation of their musical catalogue – original concepts, cutting lyrics, and a plethora of interesting voices.
