Get ready, Swans fans—your favourite sonic adventurers are hitting Europe and the UK this fall to celebrate their seventeenth studio album, ‘Birthing,’ which lands May 30 via Young God Records/Mute. This is the last hurrah of their massive “big sound” shows, so don’t miss your chance to experience Michael Gira and company at full force.
Why you’ll want to be there
Over the past year, Swans have been road-testing new songs like I Am a Tower, experimenting and expanding through intense live performances and studio magic at Soundfabrik Berlin. Gira started each piece on acoustic guitar in his office, then watched it grow, twist, and roar into life thanks to improvisation, countless tweaks, and the sheer stamina of this world-class lineup: Kristof Hahn, Dana Schechter, Larry Mullins, Phil Puleo, Christopher Pravdica, Norman Westberg—and of course Gira himself. A special shout-out to Jessica Moss for holding down support in Europe, and Little Annie & Paul Wallfisch joining the North American dates.

More about ‘Birthing’
Co-produced by Michael Gira and brought to life at Soundfabrik Berlin, Birthing is the culmination of a year of touring (The Healers, I Am a Tower, Birthing, Guardian Spirit, Rope, Away) plus two studio-born gems (Red Yellow, The Merge). It’s the final deep dive into the all-consuming sound worlds Gira has explored for decades. After the end-of-2025 tour, Swans will carry on but in a leaner, more intimate form—glimpses of which you can already hear on this record.

Pre-order Birthing on triple vinyl (brown chipboard sleeve), double CD (digipak), or digital, and score a bonus DVD featuring Swans Live 2024 (Rope) The Beggar and the documentary I Wonder If I’m Singing What You’re Thinking Me To Sing.
Whether you’re a lifelong devotee or a curious newcomer, this is your last chance to witness Swans in their most epic form.
