First Rate People release ‘Someone Else Can Make A Work Of Art’ EP

Gathered together by Jon Lawless and Liam Sanagan, the super collaborative First Rate People have returned with a new, free EP, named after their most recent single, Someone Else Can Make A Work Of Art. The beautifully poppy release is available for free download from the band’s website at firstratepeople.com. The EP features the original version of the title track as well as a remix by Kidstreet, new track Summer Job, Funny Games, and the First Rate People remix of the Baths’ track Hall. The ‘Someone Else Can Make A Work Of Art’ EP provides fans with a snapshot of the band’s past year and where they are moving musically in the future.

IFC.com’s Grayson Currin said about the title track, “This is the sound of First Rate People twinkling into the realties of maturity, and they’ve never sounded better.” The EP brings into the fold new band member Mike Harloff, on loan from Fitness Club Fiasco and retired teacher from Lawless’ high school, Claire Baker, who provided oboe on Summer Job, a collaboration the band hopes will continue on future recordings. The band has begun work on their debut full-length, due for release in 2012.
