Fay Milton of Savages is stirring things up with her brand-new project, ‘Goddess’, launching a self-titled debut album on May 30 via Bella Union. The announcement is already turning heads with the first single Shadows, featuring the ethereal vocals of Elena Tonra (of Ex:Re and Daughter), Hinako Omori on piano, and Ayse Hassan (of Savages) laying down an unforgettable bass groove.b

The idea for ‘Goddess’ took root during a pause from her life with the two-time Mercury Prize-nominated Savages. Touring and the thrill of performing once filled Fay’s life, but a growing awareness of the climate crisis led her to co-found the activism charity Music Declares Emergency. This new perspective—balancing passion for music with a commitment to change—has redefined her creative journey. “I couldn’t really justify being someone who continues to jump on a plane every day,” she reflects. With the freedom of not touring, Fay has created a project where each track can explore new musical landscapes, featuring unexpected instruments like harps and strings.
