I Am A Camera announce new single + release video for ‘Factory Boys’

I Am A Camera press shot

I Am A Camera have announced their new track Factory Boys to be released on May 27 along with a bunch of remixes. The song is based on the true story of The Dupont Twins who were teenage boys who lied and tricked their way from their home in a gas station in the US Mid West to the heart of the legendary New York’s Studio 54 and into the worlds of Andy Warhol and Halston. “They went from being penniless orphans to being paid by Warhol in Quaaludes and Screen Prints to hang out with him,” explains Francesca. “We love the story. It proves how reality can be just as amazing as any fantasy you could make up,” says Ian.

The band produced, directed and filmed the video for Factory Boys, which was shot on their iPhones.

I Am A Camera are Francesca (a Mancunian) and Ian (a Northern-Irish Londoner). Their sound definitely comes from Ian’s love of John Carpenter, Robert Mapplethorpe and HAL from “Space Odyssey:2001” mixing with Francesca’s love of Astrid Kirschherr and Brian Duffy’s photography, Spike Jonze, Le Tigre and 60 Minute Makeover.

The band recently remixed Lana Del Rey’s Born To Die to great acclaim and a Top 5 place in Hypemachine. The band recently played The Proud Galleries and are currently planning a set of live dates across the country.
