Last month, Houston-based producer\u00a0Rabit\u00a0announced his ‘Baptizm‘<\/em>\u00a0<\/em>EP, which will be out March 17\u00a0via\u00a0Tri Angle Records. He has returned\u00a0with \u0093Straps\u0094<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0NPR premiered the single, calling it \u0093a bruising electronic rush of adrenaline<\/em>\u0094\u00a0–\u00a0click here to listen.<\/a><\/p>\n

Over the past 2 years, Rabit\u00a0has developed a formidable reputation within the underground via a steady stream of acclaimed 12\u0094 releases and\u00a0mixtapes. His notable credits include close ties to and collaborations with similarly buzzed about producers\u00a0Mumdance\u00a0and Logos, culminating most notably in a guest spot on the latter\u0092s debut LP, ‘Cold Mission,’ as well as affiliations with the severely hyped Janus crew (M.E.S.H. designed the artwork for ‘Baptizm‘<\/em>). Singularly, he delivered a genuine hit on the British grime scene with his \u0093Black Dragons\u0094, featuring\u00a0Riko, last fall.<\/p>\n

<\/code><\/p>\n

‘Baptizm’ is a record of 2 parts, the ornate, gothic waltz of \u0093Imp\u0094<\/em> and \u0093Hex\u0094<\/em> grinding against the pounding mechanical violence displayed on \u0093Bloody Eye\u0094<\/em> and \u0093Straps<\/em>\u0094. On an emotional level, ‘Baptizm’\u00a0is about having one\u0092s life thrown completely out of order and finding solace in an imagined world. Themes of destruction and regeneration dominate throughout, as well as an ongoing obsession on the often\u2010ugly clash between sexuality and religion. All in all, ‘Baptizm’\u00a0finds\u00a0Rabit\u00a0continuing to feel out the parameters of his increasingly alien sonic world in a typically exciting fashion.<\/p>\n
