Watch Godin perform <em>Bach Off<\/em> below via YouTube.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/TOMP2HqR2PM?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Set-up inside the Paris Orly airport for\u00a0this special occasion, Nicolas Godin chose to play\u00a0<em>Bach Off<\/em>\u00a0from his upcoming debut.\u00a0This track was conceived as a tribute to\u00a0Argentinean pianist, conductor and soundtrack composer Lalo Schifrin.\u00a0The album also\u00a0includes Gordon Tracks\u00a0on <em>Widerstehe Doch Der Sunde<\/em>,\u00a0the first time since Air&#8217;s\u00a0<em>Playground Love<\/em>\u00a0that Gordon Tracks makes an appearance.<\/p>\n<p>Nicolas Godin\u00a0on the genesis of his first solo album:<em>&#8220;Sometime during my fourth world tour with my band AIR, I observed that: music was taking up only a small part of my daily life. I had become what Glenn Gould called &#8220;a travelling monkey in the concert circus&#8230;\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Glenn Gould. A legendary name. A musician friend had told me about the two documentaries Bruno Monsaingeon\u00a0had made about him, &#8216;Hereafter&#8217; and &#8216;The Alchemist,&#8217; so of course I watched them.<\/p>\n<p>Right from the beginning of each film, it becomes apparent that we are watching one of the greatest musicians of all time (Gould), playing the most beautiful music of all time (Bach). The extremely personal way Gould interprets Bach goes against all the normal rules of performance such that a new art form appears before our eyes. It is especially noticeable when he is playing the Partita No. 6 at the beginning of &#8216;The Alchemist,&#8217; but also, and I highly recommend it, in another film entitled &#8216;Gould plays Bach,&#8217; in which Gould interprets the Goldberg Variations in one take, again filmed by Monsaingeon. I, an autodidact, was immediately attracted to this mysterious and inaccessible universe, which I decided to explore further upon my return to Paris.<\/p>\n<p>So, wanting to be able to play<em> &#8220;Bach or nothing,&#8221; I pragmatically started at the beginning&#8230;&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>About the video:\u00a0November 7th 2015, 10:45pm. The last passengers in the Hall 3 of Paris Orly Ouest\u00a0airport had just departed for La R\u00e9union when a precarious silence dominated the\u00a0hall. A ballet of musicians, technicians, sound engineers, DOPs and actors began. It\u00a0all came together and then\u2026 the lights went down. It was midnight. The story\u00a0unfolded in that futuristic and mysterious setting. Nicolas Godin surrounded by\u00a0three of his musicians accompanied an intrigue in an 8-minute sequence shot\u00a0following the mysterious actress Victoire Dubois through the empty terminal.\u00a0<br class=\"\" \/><br class=\"\" \/><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/1d59aca4aeedaab429816159e\/images\/fdfbad39-f273-4234-a8a6-faefcd1ec8a8.png?resize=350%2C350&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"Nicolas Godin - Contrepoint cover\" width=\"350\" height=\"350\" align=\"none\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Track list:<\/strong><br \/>\n01.
