The competition will take place during this year&#8217;s conference on\u00a0Thursday, May 5th\u00a0at the Sheraton Centre Hotel. <em>&#8220;The conference is dedicated to further developing the Canadian music industry, and startups play an important role in that&#8221;<\/em> states Danya Dixon, VP of Programming.\u00a0The competition will offer startups an opportunity for exposure and investment, as well as advice from top industry professionals. It&#8217;s kind of like a music-centric version of Dragon&#8217;s Den.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-19382\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/cultureaddicts.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/host1.png?resize=170%2C231\" alt=\"host1\" width=\"170\" height=\"231\" \/><br \/>\nThe event will be hosted by Darryl Ballantyne, CEO of LyricFind, and will feature merchant banker and\u00a0<em>Dragons&#8217; Den<\/em>\u00a0panelist\u00a0Michael Wekerle,\u00a0Managing Director of Walden Venture Capital Larry Marcus,\u00a0IAEL President Jeff Liebenson, Director of Mediaclarity Ltd Jeremy Silver, and Managing Partner at TAG Strategic Ted Cohen as judges.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The prize package will include but not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>$10,000 cash from LyricFind and SOCAN<\/li>\n<li>Legal services from Liebenson Law<\/li>\n<li>Consulting services from TAG Strategic<\/li>\n<li>Personal, one-on-one meetings with each judge on Day 2<\/li>\n<li>A 15 minute presentation to the industry during the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/weareab.us5.list-manage1.com\/track\/click?u=60fdb8b31e218d73d68f54164&amp;id=ad19d1fec9&amp;e=6b0423bec9\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">Global Creators\u00a0Summit<\/a>\u00a0on Day 3<\/li>\n<li>Personalized post-conference email blast from CMW announcing the\u00a0winner and company overview<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All startups selected to participate will receive CMW Conference passes and will be included in pre-show marketing materials.<\/p>\n<p>To participate, startups must be based in Canada or be connected to Canada in some way. Applications will be accepted electronically; the deadline for applications is\u00a0March 4, 2016. Startups must be in their beginning stage.
