Take a listen to the track\u00a0via Soundcloud below.<\/p>\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"166\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F257691631&auto_play=false&hide_related=false&visual=false&show_comments=true&show_user=true&show_reposts=false&color=a8a4a3\"><\/iframe>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Encapsulating the band&#8217;s high-wire approach to pop songwriting the track is, according to singer Jasmyn Burke, one of her earliest collaborations with guitarist Morgan Waters\u00a0and remains one of her favourites.<em> &#8220;Candy is one of the first tracks that we worked on and I remember there was an immediate excitement that came after demoing it with just Morgan and myself in his room&#8221;<\/em> she says.<em> &#8220;It&#8217;s impulsive and almost too much, but definitely one we&#8217;re most proud of as a band.\u00a0It feels\u00a0really sweet tasting in my brain. Like a bright pink piece of cake. Very rambunctious in a way. Living life just like a pie, sweeter in the seams, ya know? Life is sometimes rough but you can hit that sweet spot and I wanted to try and write that down. Fantasizing about a way to live and behave and hoping everyone is on\u00a0board to join in the fruitful haze.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Weaves have been working on their debut LP for almost as long as they have been a band, tracking with Leon Taheny (Dilly Dally, Owen Pallett, Austra) in\u00a0sessions that span most of the last two years. Mixed by Alex Newport (Death Cab for Cutie, Melvins, At The Drive In)\u00a0and mastered by John Greenham (Death Grips, Sky Ferreira), the result is an album that traverses the band&#8217;s history, exploring every facet of their always adventurous approach to pop music\u00a0and leaving no idea\u00a0unexplored. Filled beyond bursting with hooks and possibilities, it&#8217;s the sound of a band propelled forward by the thrill of discovering the limits of their sound and\u00a0gleefully pushing past them. <em>&#8220;We&#8217;re always trying to push ourselves,&#8221;<\/em> says Waters, <em>&#8220;sometimes it feels like bands aren&#8217;t necessary, like they&#8217;re not the one&#8217;s pushing music forward, so I think we&#8217;re trying to hopefully prove that bands aren&#8217;t boring. If we are going to\u00a0be a band and if we are going to\u00a0do this guitar, bass and drums thing then we might as well see how much we can fuck it up.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Weaves self-titled\u00a0LP will be released on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/hivemindpr.us10.list-manage1.com\/track\/click?u=04780c244c226dd8f0096243b&amp;id=cb24434e21&amp;e=998dd35436\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">Kanine<\/a>\u00a0in the US,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/hivemindpr.us10.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=04780c244c226dd8f0096243b&amp;id=6abc286aac&amp;e=998dd35436\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">Buzz Records<\/a>\u00a0in Canada and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/hivemindpr.us10.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=04780c244c226dd8f0096243b&amp;id=1a4031d74c&amp;e=998dd35436\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer\">Memphis Industries<\/a>\u00a0in the rest of the World on June 17th.
