{"id":21941,"date":"2016-06-04T12:00:13","date_gmt":"2016-06-04T16:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/?p=21941"},"modified":"2016-06-02T20:46:29","modified_gmt":"2016-06-03T00:46:29","slug":"faith-no-reissue-landmark-debut-album-care-lot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/?p=21941","title":{"rendered":"Faith No More reissue landmark debut album, &#8216;We Care A Lot&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Faith No More\u2019s landmark debut,\u00a0&#8216;We Care A Lot,&#8217; which was originally released in 1985 and has been out of print for 20 years, is getting a little bit of a dusting off with an Aug. 19 reissue via Bill Gould\u2019s Koolarrow Records.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThis was an album that started as a demo, before any label had any interest in us,\u201d<\/em> explained Faith No More bass player Bill Gould.\u00a0\u201c<em>There were a couple of reasons we decided to release this now: first of all, it\u2019s been 20 years since it has been commercially available.\u00a0 Secondly, when cleaning out my basement, I discovered the original master reels, and we all thought that resurrecting this from the original tapes would be a great way to reintroduce\u00a0&#8216;We Care A Lot&#8217;\u00a0into the world. Lastly, this has been a band effort; we are releasing this in the same way as we recorded it, deciding everything amongst ourselves and getting our hands deep into the nuts and bolts\u2026 just like we used to.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Watch the video for the title track via YouTube below.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LQhX8PbNUWI?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The original 10-song album, remastered by Maor Appelbaum via the original reels Gould referenced, is enhanced with nine bonus tracks including demo versions (taken from the original 8-track tapes) of <em>Greed<\/em>, <em>Mark Bowen<\/em>, <em>Arabian Disco<\/em> and <em>Intro<\/em>, live versions of <em>The Jungle<\/em> and <em>New Beginnings<\/em> and new mixes, via Matt Wallace, of <em>We Care A Lot<\/em>, <em>Pills for Breakfast<\/em> and <em>As The Worm Turns<\/em>.\u00a0 Liner notes from keyboard player Roddy Bottum and behind-the-scenes photos will be included with the physical release.\u00a0&#8216;We Care A Lot (Deluxe Band Edition)&#8217;\u00a0is available now for pre-order on CD (link), digital (link) and vinyl (link).<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWhen strangers ask what Faith No More is I\u2019ve always said, \u2018well, it\u2019s kind of an art band\u2026\u2019 I say that mostly to distance us from the hard rock world that we\u2019re often times lumped into. I mean, hard rock, sure, that was part of it, but our roots most definitely and pointedly stem from a specific freakout art time and place in San Francisco, a time that no longer exists. In 1982, the hippies mingled with the punks, the artists hung out with the musicians, the dance people and the punks were one and the Satanists and the sexual pioneers\u2026 all part of the same scene,\u201d<\/em> Bottum explains, colorfully setting the scene for the original inspiration for the band and &#8216;We Care A Lot&#8217;.\u00a0 <em>\u201cThat weird SF window provided a platform from which we were free to express and cultivate a really uniquely odd sound experience.
