The Broad museum\u0092s\u00a0Nonobject<\/em>(<\/em>ive<\/em>): Summer Happenings<\/em>\u00a0series kicks off on Saturday, June 25 with a program inspired by the museum\u0092s first special exhibition,\u00a0Cindy Sherman: Imitation of Life<\/em><\/a>. The late-night series\u00a0<\/strong>will animate important influences of leading contemporary artists through music and performance, fluctuating between happenings, salons and productions.\u00a0The first program will feature the lush beauty of\u00a0Perfume Genius\u0092’ orchestrations and the ever-changing masked choreography of\u00a0Narcissister. In the spirit of Cindy Sherman\u0092s photographs, performance collective\u00a0Mutant Salon\u00a0will transform visitors\u0092 hair, make-up and minds in a lavish pop-up beauty parlor and hive for creative collaboration and self-care.\u00a0Lotic\u00a0will create dark beats in The Broad\u0092’s distinctive architecture, and\u00a0Cindytalk\u00a0will perform electronic soundscapes that blend rhythmic dissonance with ethereal vocals. All of The Broad\u0092s Summer Happenings include same-night access to the full museum, including the\u00a0Cindy Sherman: Imitation of Life<\/em>\u00a0special exhibition.<\/p>\n

More about the\u00a0Nonobject<\/em>(<\/em>ive<\/em>): Summer Happenings<\/em>\u00a0at The Broad Series?\u00a0<\/strong>Nonobject<\/em>(ive): Summer Happenings<\/em>\u00a0at The Broad<\/em>\u00a0is a series of late-night performances that will be held one Saturday night a month from June through September 2016.\u00a0Nonobject<\/em>(<\/em>ive<\/em>): Summer Happenings<\/em>\u00a0is inspired by art in the Broad collection, while shifting focus towards the immersive and immaterial, including performance, dance, music and spoken word. Occupying various spaces throughout the museum and plaza,\u00a0Nonobject<\/em>(<\/em>ive<\/em>): Summer Happenings\u00a0<\/em>will orchestrate a constellation of thrilling musicians, performers, and multi-media artists. The artists will take their thematic calling from Pop art and works of the the 1980s and 1990s that helped shape the underground, rave and downtown Manhattan cultures, as well as the many guises of Cindy Sherman, whose work will be featured in The Broad\u0092s first special exhibition\u00a0Cindy Sherman: Imitation of Life<\/em><\/a>. These events fluctuate between happenings, salons and scenes, and will animate important influences of the leading artists of our time.<\/p>\n

Guest Co-Curator: Bradford\u00a0Nordeen<\/strong>
\n<\/em>Bradford\u00a0Nordeen\u00a0<\/strong>is an independent curator and writer who\u00a0lives\u00a0in Los Angeles and Brooklyn, NY. The founder of Dirty Looks, a bi-coastal platform for queer experimental film and video and its site-specific, offshoot series Dirty Looks: On Location,\u00a0Nordeen\u00a0is the Platinum Programmer for\u00a0OutfestLos Angeles. His writing has been published in Art In America, Afterimage, Lambda Literary, X-TRA, Little Joe, and Butt Magazine. He is the author and co-editor of three Dirty Looks publications: Dirty Looks at\u00a0MoMA, Check Your Vernacular and the Dirty Looks Volumes series.<\/p>\n

Guest Co-Curator: Brandon\u00a0Stosuy
\n<\/strong>Brandon\u00a0Stosuy\u00a0is Director of Editorial Operations at Pitchfork. He is also a Music Curator for\u00a0MoMA\/PS1 and organizes the Tinnitus music series with Adam Shore. For the past several years, he and the artist Matthew Barney have collaborated on an ongoing series of live events and publications.\u00a0ADAC, their most recent book-length project, was published in 2013 by\u00a0Dashwood. He curated the multi-media art\/music exhibition,\u00a0Rural Violence<\/em>, which opened in August 2015 in Troy, New York (with book to follow). It has since been expanded and re-staged at Barney’s studio and will travel to Jackson Hole, Wyoming this summer. He’s collaborated on exhibitions and books with the German artist Kai\u00a0Althoff\u00a0and the American artist Brody Condon, and worked as a music curator for Doug Aitken. He writes a monthly metal column at Pitchfork called Show No Mercy, and presents live events under that name. His anthology,\u00a0Up Is Up, But So Is Down: New York’s Downtown Literary Scene, 1974-1992<\/em>, was published by NYU Press in 2006, and he has a children’s book,\u00a0Music Is….,<\/em>\u00a0forthcoming on Simon & Schuster in October 2016.<\/p>\n
