San Diego\u00a0garage-pop duo\u00a0The Dabbers have released the track and video for Hidden Tin<\/em>. They’re picking up where the Pixies\u00a0left off\u2014both in their lilting garage pop jams, and, more literally, as the\u00a0soundtrack to the trailer for Chuck Palahniuk’s\u00a0Fight Club 2<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>comics collection.\u00a0It’s not\u00a0surprising\u00a0that the author has\u00a0cosigned\u00a0the duo who are\u00a0also collaborating with him on the film adaptation of his novel\u00a0Lullaby<\/em>: the pair are something of a creative force to be reckoned with.<\/p>\n

Hidden Tin<\/em> recalls the little personal items and illegal contraband that Shelby and her mom and brother stowed away in their cramped apartment growing up\u2014but it also speaks to a deeper set of feelings. ‘When I sing it live, I picture very fuzzy, melancholic details of my childhood,’<\/em>\u00a0she explains. ‘It’s a funny song, really, about associations,\u00a0misunderstandings, naivet\u00e9.’<\/em><\/p>\n

The song’s\u00a0Grant Reinero-directed\u00a0music video, which you can watch via YouTube\u00a0below, pits the two up against stark framing and slo-mo distortion as they pummel through a live performance of the song. There are some cool\u00a0Twin Peaks<\/em>-style Black Lodge drapery thrown in, too.<\/p>\n
