{"id":22645,"date":"2016-07-17T12:01:47","date_gmt":"2016-07-17T16:01:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/?p=22645"},"modified":"2016-07-14T21:02:03","modified_gmt":"2016-07-15T01:02:03","slug":"patten-announce-new-album-%cf%88-release-video","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/?p=22645","title":{"rendered":"patten announce new album &#8216;\u03a8&#8217; + release video"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>UK duo patten return with their third LP and second for Warp, an album of deconstructed club music titled &#8216;\u03a8&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThere were atmospheres, palettes and textures we were interested in looking at and distilling on \u03a8 &#8211; like the grinding city sounds of Industrial music, the bass weight of UK dance&#8217;s Hardcore Continuum, the emotive drive of 80s Goth, the techy weirdness of current pop music like Rihanna, the sonics of modern club like Grime, Footwork and Techno. We wrote in a very open way, allowing these elements to naturally interact in what we were doing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Historically, patten\u2019s public identities have always been amorphous. Here \u2018A\u2019 and \u2018D\u2019 come to the forefront of the project. This line-up\u2019s first public appearance was at Warp25 where they began a short run of shows testing AV setups with hyper-programmed lasers, smoked out venues, live processed guitar and vocals, LEDs and opulent projections. patten are translating innovative multi-sensory music through recordings, videos and onward into the live arena.<\/p>\n<p>The record is named with the Greek letter \u03a8 (pronounced Psi &#8211; a volatile symbol perfectly linked to their tripped out tracks), on the sleeve artwork, presented in an intensive state of growth or collapse.<\/p>\n<p>Art Direction is by 555-5555 (a collaboration between patten, Jane Eastlight and others)<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/gallery.mailchimp.com\/00b6e9d6fe966fce3b853951f\/images\/0fa316be-440c-4fba-a073-72799bd97956.jpg?resize=327%2C327&#038;ssl=1\" width=\"327\" height=\"327\" align=\"none\" \/><\/p>\n<h5>&#8216;\u03a8&#8217; track listing:<\/h5>\n<p>1.
