After two critically acclaimed albums of hooky and emotional power pop,\u00a0Ryan Allen<\/a>\u00a0(ex-Thunderbirds Are Now!, current co-frontman of Destroy This Place) is releasing his third solo album via\u00a0Save Your Generation Records<\/a>\u00a0on\u00a0September 30th. The latest under his Ryan Allen & His Extra Arms moniker, ‘Basement Punk’ finds Allen once again doing what he does best, writing tunes that are both wistful and clever, nodding to a certain style of fuzzy jangle-pop that brings to mind 90s faves like the Lemonheads, Sugar and Teenage Fanclub.<\/p>\n

Punktastic is premiering Alex Whiz,\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>the first track to be released from ‘Basement Punk’ and you can\u00a0preorder the album via bandcamp<\/a>\u00a0before it’s release date on September 30th, 2016.<\/p>\n

Ryan on the writing process of Alex Whiz<\/em>:\u00a0“I really wanted to do something that combined my love of Slowdive with my natural tendency to write a succinct pop song, and I think I pulled it off. I added some woozy synths to the song, and the major 7th C chord thrown in during the verses and bridge helps give it that slightly off-kilter vibe that I was going for.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The “Basement Punk” release show will be held at The New Way Bar in Ferndale, MI<\/a>\u00a0with Lawnmower and Fawnn opening things up.<\/p>\n
