{"id":23467,"date":"2016-09-19T12:15:15","date_gmt":"2016-09-19T16:15:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/?p=23467"},"modified":"2016-09-17T09:20:07","modified_gmt":"2016-09-17T13:20:07","slug":"toy-share-video-new-single-im-still-believing","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/?p=23467","title":{"rendered":"TOY share video for new single &#8216;I&#8217;m Still Believing&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TOY have shared their new video for\u00a0<em>I&#8217;m Still Believing<\/em>, the first single from their forthcoming new album\u00a0&#8216;Clear Shot,&#8217; due for release on\u00a0Friday, October\u00a028th via\u00a0Heavenly Recordings.<\/p>\n<p>The director, London-based filmmaker Bunny Kinney, envisioned a video aesthetic resembling an old stumbled-upon VHS tape that had been recorded over numerous times, complete with snippets strange programs and advertisements left behind from previous owners that flicker and fade in and out of the footage of the band performing. Watch the video via YouTube below.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/RS4vsK0S1cI?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The track itself captures the essence of the band&#8217;s penchant for multifaceted arrangements; chiming guitars skirted by elevating\u00a0snyth\u00a0are soon opened into more pop-tinged territory, during bright choruses framing frontman Tom\u00a0Dougall&#8217;s\u00a0introspective narrative.<\/p>\n<p>Capped with a signature, elongated break pairing the striking and intricate guitars of\u00a0Dougall\u00a0and Dominic\u00a0O&#8217;Dair\u00a0and the ever-captivating bass of Maxim Barron \u2013 the song is a statement from a group still evolving, three records in and able to pull from a wealth of musicianship and experience. &#8216;Clear Shot&#8217; was recorded with producer David Wrench towards the end of 2015 at Eve Studio.\u00a0The band have also recently unveiled\u00a0<em>Fast Silver<\/em>,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>the first track to be taken from the album.<\/p>\n<p>Splitting their time between Tom\u00a0Dougall\u00a0and bassist\u00a0Maxim\u00a0Barron&#8217;s\u00a0place in New Cross and Dominic O&#8217;Dair&#8217;s flat in\u00a0Walthamstow, where they set up a makeshift studio and laid down the early album demos, &#8216;Clear Shot&#8217;\u00a0began to take shape in the first half of 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Taking inspiration from an esoteric blend \u2013\u00a0Radiophonic\u00a0Workshop,\u00a0Comus, the scores of\u00a0Bernard\u00a0Herrmann,\u00a0John Barry\u00a0and\u00a0Ennio\u00a0Morricone\u00a0Fairport, COUM, Acid House, Incredible String Band, The Langley Schools Project, The Wicker Man soundtrack and even the direction behind\u00a0Electric\u00a0Eden,\u00a0Rob Young&#8217;s book about the development of folk music in the U.K. \u2013 by the time they entered Eve Studios in Stockport in October 2015 with producer David Wrench, the band were clear about the direction the album should take.<\/p>\n<p>The result is their most coherent and confident album to date;
