The video was directed by Jon Emmony and is based around the concept of computer simulation. \u0091&#8217;V\u0092&#8217; is their first new release in three years and will be available September 22 via\u00a0Wolftone\/Caroline. The creatures, formed from sections cut and twisted from insects, crustaceans and bone are arranged in sculptural compositions inspired by artists such as Hieronymus Bosch; finding the surreal within mixed forms and scales. The movement for the creatures is powered through generated simulations &#8211; randomised numbers and splines are generated and the position of each creature along these splines are calculated; seemingly without reason but born from the choices of software.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>If left, taken away from an edit, the creatures would continue to exist and their movements would evolve. Simulated hair adapts to changing wind speeds and directions, again manipulated by randomised mathematics. For me this was an exciting way to create digital imagery as having an element of control removed and then decided by a computer seemed fitting with the track. Machines inside machines.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The band has also announced three U.S. tour dates, taking place around the \u0091&#8217;V\u0092&#8217; release. They will perform September 16 in Los Angeles at the Spaceland Block Party and two intimate shows on September 18 &amp; 19 at Rough Trade NYC. The dates follow their recent stint supporting Depeche Mode on tour in Europe, and their own headline UK tour.<\/p>\n<p>New album \u0091&#8217;V\u0092&#8217; shows the group at the peak of their powers, exhibiting a freedom and sense of exploration that feels truly liberating. Recorded in London with producer Paul Epworth (fka twigs, Lorde, Rihanna, Adele), \u0091&#8217;V\u0092&#8217; is the sound of the band making the most expansive and progressive music of their careers.<\/p>\n<p>The ten tracks on the album are so diverse that when the final song and future single <em>Something To Remember Me By\u0094<\/em> appears to channel dance, trance and \u009180s pop genres, it feels like both the most natural thing in the musical world and also the most surprising.
