As a taster of the album, the band have released a brand new single <em>If I<\/em>, which was produced by Chris Coady (Foals, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Beach House). They&#8217;ve also created a video to accompany the track. Check out the video via YouTube below.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/v377ygaSS6k?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Songwriter Melle Dielesen explains the meaning behind the new single: &#8220;<em>I see &#8216;If I&#8217; as the counterpart of our last single&nbsp;&#8216;Hello&#8217;, which was about going into the world and claiming your space by&nbsp;simply letting yourself be seen. &#8216;If I&#8217; is about everything you&nbsp;do not&nbsp;want to show the world; all the things that you regret.&nbsp;This can be a certain emotion you have, a choice you&#8217;ve made in the past, a secret love that you&#8217;ve never been able to share&nbsp;with anyone else&nbsp;but yourself.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With &#8216;Dadcore&#8217;, Mozes and the Firstborn embrace this sentiment of looking back to what their dads listened to exploring their favourite styles within the paternal genre. The band present the record as a mixtape, a colourful collection of eclectic songs that they&#8217;ve hand chosen and want you to fall in love with and pick out your favourites, like any other mixtape.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The production of each song was approached differently to highlight the wide influences on the album. Melle Dieleson explains the love behind their music: &#8220;<em>Dadcore is a love letter to rock music. It&#8217;s&nbsp;an ode to being in a band. After eight years we still sometimes play shows where only twelve&nbsp;people show up, there&#8217;s no backstage and the fee is a case of beer and a&nbsp;place to crash. Nonetheless, there&#8217;s four people up on that stage rocking out as hard as they can. That&#8217;s&nbsp;Dadcore&nbsp;to me.<\/em>&#8220;<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;Dadcore&#8217; was produced by drummer Raven Aartsen with Chris Coady (Beach House, Yuck, together PANGEA) on board as co-producer.
