By definition, a chooch is a slang term for an idiot, jackass and the like&#8230;\u00a0on\u00a0&#8216;Chooch&#8217;<em>\u00a0<\/em>(their fifth full-length)<em>,\u00a0<\/em>Walking Bicycles use a series of vignettes to highlight the various chooches of the world: the jackasses, the idiots, and every person in between who continues to abuse their power and act inappropriately. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, the band have shared the album&#8217;s lead single\u00a0<em>Fat Cat<\/em>, a punishing track\u00a0about the haves vs have nots of the world, has now been followed by\u00a0<em>ESP<\/em>, a song that&#8217;s\u00a0about getting into peoples&#8217; heads and the dark side of conspiracy theories or false idolatry. Both are great first tastes of what one can expect from their new album. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"166\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?url=https%3A\/\/api.soundcloud.com\/tracks\/536829036&amp;color=%23aaadad&amp;auto_play=false&amp;hide_related=false&amp;show_comments=true&amp;show_user=true&amp;show_reposts=false&amp;show_teaser=true\"><\/iframe><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Fronted by vocalist Jocelyn Summers, their\u00a0new album was recorded at\u00a0Steve Albini&#8217;s Electrical Audio\u00a0studio over the course of the past few years since\u00a0&#8216;To Him That Wills The Way&#8217;<em>\u00a0<\/em>came out, which was a powerful album that\u00a0recounted the 3-year prison incarceration of their guitarist Julius Moriarty for possessing a\u00a0<em>large\u00a0<\/em>quantity of weed, and the subsequent separation from Jocelyn (his partner). Whereas that album was more narrative-driven,\u00a0&#8216;Chooch&#8217;<em>\u00a0<\/em>is a record that confronts familiar annoyances with the most freeing, middle finger-up act of defiance.\u00a0Whether it&#8217;s calling out the conservative\u00a0Fountainhead\u00a0movement circling back in <em>Dumbshit Never Learns<\/em> or the eternal devastation of waiting for the man to stop controlling life on <em>Fat Cat<\/em>,\u00a0<em>&#8216;Chooch&#8217;\u00a0<\/em>is a phenomenal album from Walking Bicycles that&#8217;s\u00a0<em>well\u00a0<\/em>worth the five year wait.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Guided by warped guitar tones, menacing drums, and thundering bass, the new sound Walking Bicycles present on\u00a0&#8216;Chooch&#8217;\u00a0is louder than anything they&#8217;ve recorded before. Consider it a blend of manic attitude and the burst of freedom that comes from telling the worst people in the world that they can go to hell.
