Drawing on a myriad of influences from new wave, post-punk, techno and pop, the songs can be best described as straight out lyrics wrapped in intense instrumentals. Watch <em>Lustfire<\/em> via YouTube below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/ZBAgMuVsPaA?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Kat says: <em>\u201cI\u2019ve spent a lot of time not saying what I want, until I reached an age where I learned to embrace my intensities and realised that it\u2019s pretty pointless to wait for someone to read your mind, it\u2019s rather unlikely to happen \ud83d\ude09 So it\u2019s worth expressing what it is that makes you happy and fulfilled. The lyrics for Lustfire were written in 14 minutes, the words literally poured out of me. It\u2019s a fairly frank expression of what I want out of a physical relationship. I\u2019m a bit of an all or nothing person. I believe you get out what you put in, so investing emotionally and physically in your partner is likely to ignite a fire and stoke up the flames. I felt the urge not to be too flowery but to say it straight out and not hold back. Musically we wanted to make a track that keeps rising in intensity, comparable to a raging fire\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her recent single <em><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"At Your Service (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/berlin-electronic-artist-kat-koan-shares-video-for-at-your-service\/\" target=\"_blank\">At Your Service<\/a><\/em>, released earlier this year, explored the relationship between humans and AI sex robots. She explains: <em>\u201cWe\u2019ve recently seen the launch of robots designed to provide humans with companionship and intimacy, using self-learning algorithms to engage their partner\u2019s brain and emotions. How will that affect human relationships? Will we end up having unrealistic expectations of human partners? Will we be able to develop feelings towards humanoid robots?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Koan only recently developed an urge to create music and visuals, after experiencing a burnout, which triggered an inability to sleep. Since then not a single night goes by without spending all waking hours tinkering, writing, filming, recording. Together with UK producer Alex Lavery, they started to make music,\u00a0combining sound influences from both Berlin and London. They want to create songs that evoke strong images, songs that make you feel something, unconstrained by traditional song structures or what\u2019s expected of certain genres. This caught the attention of Dean Hurley, who is best known for his work as David Lynch\u2019s Music Supervisor. He identified with something in the sound and offered to mix the music.
