Night Sins, the Philadelphia-based project of singer-songwriter Kyle Kimball, re-emerge after two years of near-silence. Kimball wipes the cobwebs from his undead body of work to reveal\u00a0‘Portrait in Silver,’ the fourth full-length released under the Night Sins moniker.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For those who follow Kimball and Night Sins, ‘Portrait in Silver’\u00a0may come as a bit of a surprise. Replacing the Sisters of Mercy croons and gloomy dirges, which previously defined Night Sins’ sound, with hushed vocals and upbeat rhythms more akin to\u00a0Depeche Mode’s ‘Violator’\u00a0<\/em>than\u00a0‘Floodland’.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n The transition from goth rock to full-on synth-pop has been in the works for a while for Kimball. Although his earlier work was primarily driven by guitar and bass lines, the underlying presence of synths has gradually risen closer to the surface with each release. And with the glistening synth-pop of\u00a0‘Portrait in Silver,’ Night Sins shines in a whole new light.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Along with the album announcement, Night Sins also shared the video for Annihilator<\/em>, which is lifted from the LP.
