Listen to the track via Bandcamp below.<\/p>\n\n\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"100%\" height=\"120\" style=\"position: relative; display: block; width: 100%; height: 120px;\" src=\"\/\/bandcamp.com\/EmbeddedPlayer\/v=2\/track=2507306569\/album=2676337206\/size=large\/bgcol=ffffff\/linkcol=0687f5\/tracklist=false\/artwork=small\/\" allowtransparency=\"true\" frameborder=\"0\"><\/iframe>\n\n\n\n<p>B\u00e9ret, the songwriting project of Seattle&#8217;s Ian Kurtis Crist, will release the LP\u00a0on October 18 via Chicago&#8217;s Born Yesterday Records.\u00a0\u2018Jesus White\u2019\u00a0is a tough and\u00a0intense post-punk record made almost entirely without drums, which gives it a dreamlike and surreal quality that I find\u00a0extremely addictive. The minimalist approach\u00a0creates a\u00a0powerful starkness and immediacy, as in the last minute and a half of <em>Time Like Fluid<\/em>, where one chord is repeated with increasing layers of guitar overdubs and rising intensity until it abruptly turns into a high squall of feedback. It&#8217;s unrelenting and beautiful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here&#8217;s a quote from Ian Kurtis Crist about <em>White Hole<\/em>: <em>The \u201cWhite Hole\u201d is the end of the line. It\u2019s where one lives when they are lost in self. The exaggeration of self pity and distorted selfish thought process are symptoms of what I view as a mental illness in my own life; a spiritual malady in some form. It has brought me to the gates of insanity and near death. I wasn\u2019t willing to accept help or any sort of solution to my problems that weren&#8217;t of my own creation until I had reached this \u201cjumping off point\u201d. This is about my living in the \u201cWhite Hole\u201d. Consumed by a self-purported world view and standing on the precipice of suffering before diving into spiritual reconstruction.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crist is an audio engineer, and the record sounds appropriately fantastic, the guitars sometimes crystalline and distant,\u00a0sometimes violent\u00a0and slashing with\u00a0icy halos of feedback, vocals up front and clear.
