It&#8217;s a psychedelic journey that is strikingly contemporary, invoking early\u00a0Tame Impala\u00a0and\u00a0Unknown Mortal Orchestra, while tastefully referencing genre trailblazers\u00a0The Beatles\u00a0and\u00a0Electric Light Orchestra. Watch the video via YouTube below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-youtube wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/fa6y0X3p4BY?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Shortly after uploading a few songs to SoundCloud in 2016, bandleader and frontman Josh Netsky got a cold call from\u00a0Danger Mouse, the Grammy-winning producer and songwriter behind such hit records as \u2018The Grey Album\u2019 (a mashup of Jay-Z&#8217;s \u2018The Black Album\u2019 and The Beatles&#8217; \u2018White Album\u2019), Gorillaz&#8217;s \u2018Demon Days,\u2019 Beck&#8217;s \u2018Modern Guilt,\u2019 and Adele&#8217;s \u201825\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The band quickly released their\u00a0\u2018Turning Into Water\u2019 EP\u00a0for 30th Century that same year, followed by the four-song\u00a0\u2018Unraveling\u2018\u00a0EP\u00a0produced by Patrick Carney of the\u00a0Black Keys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year has seen the band deliver their first album,\u00a0\u2018Things I Remember From Earth\u2018.\u00a0It&#8217;s an immaculate debut, showcasing a band with real songwriting chops and effortless hooks. On the album and final single, Netsky writes, <em>&#8220;Our new album is called \u2018Things I Remember From Earth,\u2019 and that title was inspired by Kurt Vonnegut\u2019s novel \u2018The Sirens of Titan\u2018. So were many of the themes in the songs. Human purpose, holding on to memories, and losing control of your mind\/memory are all themes in the book that found a place on the album. \u201cTo You\u201d took its inspiration from the philosophy of human purpose. It\u2019s about following your instinct and identifying what matters most to you personally. Don\u2019t let anything get in the way of that\u2026 it\u2019s something that I think everyone needs a reminder of from time to time.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybird is a band comprised of singer\/songwriter\u00a0Josh Netsky, brother\u00a0Adam Netsky\u00a0on drums, guitarist\u00a0Sam Snyder, and\u00a0Kurt Johnson\u00a0with the pedal steel\/guitar.
