LA post-punk trio Automatic have\u00a0kicked off their European and UK tour, with over 15 dates this month. Tickets are on sale now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since the release of their Stones Throw debut album\u00a0\u2018Signal\u2018\u00a0in September, the band has soundtracked Hedi Slimane\u2019s Paris Fashion Week show for C\u00e9line, toured the USA, and opened for legendary post-punk band Bauhaus\u2019 reunion shows at the Hollywood Palladium.\u00a0\u2018Signal\u2019\u00a0was chosen as an album of the year by Norman Records and Resident Music, who described it as\u00a0\u201cinventive, enticing and new\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Automatic, composed of\u00a0Izzy Glaudini (synths, vocals), Lola Domp\u00e9 (drums, vocals) and Halle Saxon (bass, vocals),\u00a0worked with producer and engineer Joo Joo Ashworth of FROTH for the album.\u00a0\u2018Signal\u2019 ties together the band\u2019s taste for dub reggae, motorik rhythms and gnarly synth work inspired by bands like NEU! and Suicide with the eerie atmosphere of films by auteurs like David Lynch and Dario Argento, to capture what it’s like to feel at an angle to the world.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Signal\u2019 speaks directly to the band members’ experiences, tied together by\u00a0a sense of anxiety and alienation so common to life in the 21st century. Humanoid<\/em> echoes Too Much Money<\/a>\u2019s sentiment on the disappointing falsity of social media,\u00a0Electrocution<\/a><\/em> recounts a near-death freak accident singer Izzy experienced \u2013 alluded to on the album art \u2013 and the title track captures the feeling of being trapped in the drudgery of a mundane life\u00a0“and the realization that nobody is going to rescue you from it but yourself.”\u00a0<\/em>As they put it:\u00a0“The world is so fucked up, we don’t know how any musician could say, ‘This is all peachy.'”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
