Now, the band break their silence on new album rumours by announcing their long awaited fifth studio album,\u00a0\u2018The Universal Want,\u2019 will be out\u00a0on September 11, 2020\u00a0via IMPERIAL in the US. Buoyed by refreshed chemistry, restless studio creativity and public reaction to their return, Doves have shared the album\u2019s first single, <a aria-label=\"undefined (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/girlieaction.us1.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=1d59aca4aeedaab429816159e&amp;id=9fc6d95345&amp;e=3a430a552a\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>Prisoners<\/em><\/a>.<br>\u00a0<br><em>Prisoners<\/em> is an unstoppable, driving tale of caution in a world of unending desire. Produced by Doves with\u00a0Dan Austin\u00a0and recorded at the band\u2019s own\u00a0Frank Bough Sound III\u00a0studios in North West England, the high heat of its Northern Soul beat is fanned by wiry guitar breaks and cuts of ethereal noise contorting beneath layers of stacked vocals. A statuesque musical statement, <em>Prisoners<\/em> guides Doves\u2019 second chapter to a peak now within touching distance, the lyrics contrasting to express unease with modern ills.
