The Daydream Library Series\u00a0have announced that they will release the new full length record by\u00a0Sonic Youth\u00a0founder\u00a0Thurston Moore\u00a0entitled\u00a0\u2018By The Fire<\/a>,\u2019 which will be out\u00a0September 25.\u00a0The third 12 minute single Siren<\/em> is out now via Bandcamp, accompanied by a short film of a mermaid fantasy under the sea. This is Thurston Moore\u2019s seventh solo album, and features musicians\u00a0Deb Googe (My Bloody Valentine)\u00a0on bass and backing vocals,\u00a0Jon Leidecker aka \u2018Wobbly\u2019 (of Negativland)\u00a0on electronics,\u00a0James Sedwards\u00a0on guitar, and\u00a0Sonic Youth\u2019s Steve Shelley, as well as\u00a0Jem Doulton, alternating on drums.\u00a0Watch the video clip via Bandcamp here<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hashish<\/em><\/a> was the first single lifted from the album to be released and is described by Moore as \u201can ode to the narcotic of love in our shared responsibility to each other during isolation.<\/em>” The song includes a video with footage from\u00a0The Thurston Moore Group\u2019s\u00a0tour in early 2020 in Europe, as well as footage of Thurston quarantined in his home during the past few months \u201cwith respect to the sacred healing truth of nature.<\/em>\u201d The second single released from\u00a0\u2018By The Fire\u2019\u00a0was the righteous Cantaloupe<\/a><\/em> with a video featuring friends in Thurston\u2019s local skate park.\u00a0

Prior to isolation during the COVID pandemic, Thurston worked in recording studios in North London until the third week of March 2020 to complete this album for release\u00a0on September 25.\u00a0While the musicians may not immediately tour, Thurston was adamant to release\u00a0\u2018By The Fire\u2019\u00a0in 2020, and with Daydream Library, has released this quote:

\u201cBy The Fire is music in flames. 2020 is our time for radical change and collective awareness and Thurston Moore has written nine songs of enlightenment, released to a world on fire. Taking a cue from Albert Ayler’s \u2018<\/em>music is the healing force of the universe,\u2019 this recording offers songs as flames of rainbow energy, where the power of love becomes our call. These are love songs in a time where creativity is our dignity, our demonstration against the forces of oppression. By The Fire is a gathering, a party of peace — songs in the heat of the moment.<\/em>\u201d

Some of the songs feature all of the musicians whilst a few tunes are solo guitar and vocals.\u00a0\u2018<\/em><\/strong>By The Fire\u2019 will come out via The Daydream Library Series distributed in North America by long-standing Indie communitarians and friends at Forced Exposure. The Daydream Library Series record label was founded in 2018 especially to release London Afro-punk feminist trio\u00a0Big Joanie\u2019s\u00a0debut album\u00a0\u2018Sistahs\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
