{"id":35071,"date":"2020-10-12T17:30:00","date_gmt":"2020-10-12T21:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/?p=35071"},"modified":"2023-04-07T10:50:41","modified_gmt":"2023-04-07T14:50:41","slug":"draag-shares-throbbing-gristle-cover-discipline","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/?p=35071","title":{"rendered":"Draag shares Throbbing Gristle cover \u2018Discipline\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>LA indie-shoegaze quintet&nbsp;Draag&nbsp;shared their cover of <em>Discipline<\/em> by industrial pioneers&nbsp;Throbbing Gristle,&nbsp;ahead of the band\u2019s<em> \u2018<\/em>Covers\u2019 EP out&nbsp;now.&nbsp;When the band\u2019s plans for a summer tour were cancelled due to COVID, the group \u201c<em>decided we&#8217;d use the time we&#8217;d spend on the road to make this EP instead, sending stems back and forth to each other. The choice of songs to cover was very stream of consciousness &#8211; instinctually chosen from a combination of Twitter recommendations and artists that expand the definition of music to us.<\/em>\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Listen to <em>Discipline<\/em> via YouTube below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/mVWrjjv0BWU?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>With flavours of Sonic Youth, Boards of Canada and My Bloody Valentine mixed together, Draag has played shows with the likes of&nbsp;Reggie Watts, Part Time, Vinyl Williams, Goon, Young Jesus, Girl Friday&nbsp;and beyond. What began as a solo project turned into much more when Adrian Acosta, trained as a mariachi singer by his established norte\u00f1o musician father, recruited other members (Jessica Huang, Nick Kelley, Ray Montes and Shane Graham) from disparate upbringings in the worlds of underground punk, no wave, experimental jazz, and classical music training.&nbsp;<br>&nbsp;<br>The band\u2019s&nbsp;\u2018Clara Luz\u2018&nbsp;EP&nbsp;came earlier this year &#8212; co-produced by Jon Nu\u00f1ez of&nbsp;Torche, it was the follow-up to 2018\u2019s&nbsp;\u2018Nontoxic Process\u2019&nbsp;EP.
