{"id":36002,"date":"2021-03-27T12:15:00","date_gmt":"2021-03-27T16:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/?p=36002"},"modified":"2021-03-20T09:42:13","modified_gmt":"2021-03-20T13:42:13","slug":"whispering-sons-share-satantango-surgery-live-videos","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/?p=36002","title":{"rendered":"Whispering Sons share \u2018Satantango\u2019 + \u2018Surgery\u2019 live videos"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Belgian\u00a0five-piece Whispering Sons follow the recent announcement of their\u00a0second album \u2018Several Others\u2019, with two new live videos of their recently released tracks <em>Satantango<\/em> and <em>Surgery<\/em>.<br><br>The entrancing new sessions perfectly exemplify\u00a0the powerful vehemence of the band&#8217;s live shows, capturing their raw emotion and brooding energy.\u00a0Although it\u2019s coming up to a year since they last played a gig \u2013 they were the support for Editors on their European tour at the beginning of 2020 \u2013 Whispering Sons\u00a0haven\u2019t forgotten their power as performers. Along with the record, they\u2019ll be releasing each single along with a corresponding live session, to be compiled and released as a live film along with the record which features visuals that centre on a recurring image of a woman dancing and slowly transforming into something inhuman, eventually leading to destruction and purification. It brings us back to the central intensity at the core of Whispering Sons; a constant, uncompromising drive for something more. The tracks toy with the delicate balance between moments of fragility and their\u00a0capability for\u00a0relentless and driving intensity,\u00a0experimenting at the point in which\u00a0no wave, industrial and avant-punk converge. The anxious and propulsive instrumentation is\u00a0eerily abstracted, whilst Fenne Kuppens\u2019 words, sung in a dramatic and distinctive low register,\u00a0inject that extra central tension and darkness.<br><br>The band also released a limited edition 7&#8243; of their earlier single <em>Surface<\/em> last month,\u00a0which\u00a0sold out of all 500 copies in half a day, as well as\u00a0earning\u00a0plaudits from\u00a0a vast array\u00a0of publications. There was also a session released for that single &#8211; watch\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/prescriptionpr.cmail20.com\/t\/j-l-auujjit-ejlihlkhu-h\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\">\u2018Several Others\u2019 album details<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2018Several Others\u2019 marks Whispering Sons\u00a0first full-length release since their 2018 debut \u2018<a href=\"http:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/whispering-sons-release-debut-album-image\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"Whispering Sons release debut album \u2018Image\u2019\">Image<\/a>\u2019, which saw them garner early support at press and radio as well as tallying up millions of streams\u00a0for their dark and unique blend of experimental and frenetic post-punk.\u00a0Similarly, prior to lockdown, their\u00a0infamously ferocious live shows had also seen them begin to firmly cement themselves as a must-see live band playing alongside the likes of The Murder Capital, Patti\u00a0Smith, The Soft Moon and Croatian Amor.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Having retreated to the Ardennes last\u00a0summer to work on the new material, the band took the strongest parts of their earlier work and refined them even further with a strong focus on their greatest strength \u2013 sheer, unpretentious intensity.\u00a0Whispering Sons have constantly outstripped their own expectations.
