{"id":36615,"date":"2021-04-19T13:45:00","date_gmt":"2021-04-19T17:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/?p=36615"},"modified":"2021-04-19T08:10:45","modified_gmt":"2021-04-19T12:10:45","slug":"cucamaras-share-new-single-death-of-the-social","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/?p=36615","title":{"rendered":"Cucamaras share new single \u2018Death of The Social\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Cucamaras\u00a0have shared their aggressive post-punk\u00a0anthem <em>Death of The Social<\/em>.\u00a0The track has a haunting lead guitar riff that throws you down the band\u2019s very own sonic rabbit hole. <em>Death of the Social<\/em> pulls you in by the scruff of the neck and won\u2019t let go until the last crash of the cymbal, leaving you begging for more.\u00a0You\u2019ll love this track if you\u2019re into <a href=\"http:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/fontaines-d-c-nominated-for-international-group-at-the-brit-awards-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"Fontaines D.C. nominated for International Group at the BRIT Awards 2021\">Fontaines D.C.<\/a> or <a href=\"http:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/idles-share-new-video-for-carcinogenic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"IDLES share new video for \u2018Carcinogenic\u2019\">IDLES<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Cucamaras are Josh Hart, Olly Bowley, Dan McGrath and Joe Newton. They have taken inspiration from the work of sociologist Jean Baudrillard to write this track, which was recorded and mixed at Rainy Daze Recordings in their hometown. Being written whilst gigging in Paris, after a hungover debate between Hart and Bowley; the song takes inspiration from postmodernism as well as drawing on internal anxieties that the two have about an increasing social divide in society.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The band describe <em>Death of the Social<\/em> as\u00a0<strong>\u201c<\/strong><em>the heaviest sounding track we\u2019ve ever written\u201d.<\/em> About the track, the band\u2019s Josh Hart said, <em>\u201cThe lyrics that Olly wrote for the track took a really simple but stark form. I think we both enjoy how literal and honest the track is, and that\u2019s matched with probably our most simple song structure we\u2019ve ever had, but that chorus just has impact and I think it will be somewhat of a protagonist in our live set. Quickly racking up over 45,000 streams on Spotify, the band have headlined sold out\u00a0shows in Sheffield and Nottingham, as well as appearing on stages in Newcastle, Manchester and Birmingham. 2020 saw the band release tracks such as <em>Lime Street Liar<\/em>, <em>Keep It Cool<\/em> and <em>Window Seat<\/em>, with a string of live shows due to take place before lockdown measures were introduced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Death of the Social<\/em> highlights a mature yet heavy step in a new direction for\u00a0Cucamaras.
