Black Marble aka Chris Stewart has announced a new album titled \u2018Fast Idol,\u2019 due out October 22, 2021 via Sacred Bones Records. \u2018Fast Idol\u2019 follows last year\u2019s take on Mariah Carey\u2019s beloved 1994 classic, <\/strong>All I Want For Christmas Is You<\/em><\/a> and the EP of covers, \u2018I Must Be Living Twice<\/a>,\u2019 which was recorded shortly after 2019\u2019s acclaimed full-length album \u2018Bigger Than Life<\/a>\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris Stewart shares: \u201cSomewhere<\/em> describes a place just out of reach that serves as a diversion and takes focus away from the ambiguities of daily life.\u00a0 It represents a place of disinhibition where if it could only be remembered, or found, the people we aim to be could for a moment be fully realized.\u00a0 Although its dreamlike clarity and feeling of connection may seem like an empty promise, it serves as an aspirational reminder for what might be.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With the announcement of \u2018Fast Idol\u2019 comes the release of lead single Somewhere<\/em>, accompanied by a wondrous video directed by Theo Sixou, along with the confirmation of additional live dates to kick-off this October just after the album\u2019s release in the UK, followed by select U.S. dates this November, including shows in San Francisco and Los Angeles that were rescheduled from last year. Regarding the video, Chris Stewart says: \u201cI was so happy to work with director Theo Six for our third video together. \u00a0 Brought to life in the shadows of the towers of the Parisian suburbs, I love that Theo always seems to return to the themes of searching and wishing in his work.\u00a0I think that the idea of an artist, or anyone really, as a fully formed entity interacting with the world is rather strange. Although there can be pressure to come across this way, I think it’s more interesting and realistic to admit to the idea that most of us struggle to live up to some idealized projection of who we want to be.\u00a0 In this way, I’ve always appreciated how Theo imbues these little worlds he creates with feelings of desire for this sort of transcendence, and I always trust that I’ll relate to the way he sees things.\u201d<\/em> Watch the video clip for Somewhere<\/em> via YouTube below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
