The track follows the recent releases of <a href=\"https:\/\/deathtoslowmusic.us3.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=e6847bf84f654aa593e274a3b&amp;id=64c5879b10&amp;e=87de5fa2dc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><em>No Where Is Here<\/em><\/a>, which collaged 2006-2010 NYC DIY show footage against a a twisted visual of Death Set duo Johnny Siera and Dan Walker playing guitars with their heads reversed, and the frantic <em><a href=\"http:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/the-death-set-release-elephant-single-video\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" title=\"The Death Set release \u2018Elephant\u2019 single + video\">Elephant<\/a><\/em>, which which matched stream-of-consciousness lyrical absurdity with a visual that satirized the ongoing pull towards self-destruction that has accompanied Siera\u2019s last 7 years of clean living and self-care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018How To Tune A Parrot\u2019 finds The Death Set distilled, for the first time, down to the duo of Johnny and Dan and is their first full-length release since 2014\u2019s\u00a0\u2018King Babies\u2019\u00a0EP (Dim Mak). This album follows on the heels of a sustained period of sobriety and personal introspection that brings a new depth to the band\u2019s trademark incandescent bursts of twisted noise pop. Or, as Siera wryly reflects, \u201c<em>we went from being scumbags to taking a good look at ourselves.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Alongside <em>Set For Death<\/em> and <em>Elephant<\/em>,\u00a0\u2018How To Tune A Parrot\u2019\u00a0delivers 11 other new songs that are served up in two-minute bursts of distorted melodies, buzzing synths and frantic beats, all overlaid with bratty vocals that set their sites on disparate topics, from creative blocks, to NYC\u2019s dark underbelly, and to embracing bad decision making. An experience that DZ Deathrays\u2019 Simon Ridley neatly encapsulated as &#8220;<em>a hyperactive, hook filled, party enabling sonic barrage of an album.\u00a0It\u2019s as close as you can get to taking amphetamines audibly.&#8221;\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Death Set\u2019s 15-year journey has been an emotional rollercoaster; from international festival slots and a Super Bowl commercial sync, to the tragic passing of founding member Beau Velasco, and the critical acclaim that was bestowed on the album that paid tribute to Velasco\u2019s spirit,\u00a0<em>Michel Poiccard.<\/em>\u00a0With\u00a0\u2018How To Tune A Parrot\u2019, the band find themselves back in an upswing with a renewed creative energy that reignites the hell-bent energy of a warehouse show.
