{"id":37704,"date":"2022-01-20T12:15:00","date_gmt":"2022-01-20T17:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/?p=37704"},"modified":"2025-05-13T20:02:39","modified_gmt":"2025-05-14T00:02:39","slug":"lamming-share-new-single-everlasting-moor","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/?p=37704","title":{"rendered":"Lammping share new single \u2018Everlasting Moor\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Toronto\u2019s Lammping have just released <em>Everlasting Moor<\/em>,\u00a0the first single lifted from their forthcoming EP \u2018Stars We Lost\u2019 due out this March via We Are Busy Bodies. \u2018Stars We Lost\u2019 is a collection of 70\u2019s soaked space-rock bangers that\u2019ll surely win the hearts of fans of Black Sabbath, Blue Cheer, Spacemen 3, Stereolab, De La Soul, Kraftwerk, and Hawkwind.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The debut single features the mesmerizing vocal lines of Mikhail Galkin which sit atop atmospheric guitars and the driving, Neu!-reminiscent backbeat of Jay Anderson. Discussing the meaning behind the song, Galkin says, \u201c<em>Everlasting Moor begins with \u2018See a man, he&#8217;s popping and locking in a parkette gazebo.\u2019 I saw a dude one afternoon doing just that, at a small parkette close to my house, where I bring my daughter to play. He brought a boombox and was just breakdancing by himself in this little gazebo, with no one around. For whatever reason that sparked a stream of consciousness song that was about finding our place in the world, and if unable to, creating a world in your mind you feel at home in. While Anderson\u2019s contribution to the band is informed by the myriad of past and present rock acts he has played in (Biblical, Badge Epoque Ensemble, Stonegrass, Marker Starling, Comet Control), Galkin\u2019s background is somewhat unique. Meeting at a concert where Jay and Mikhail&#8217;s previous bands were sharing the bill, they quickly connected over their musical tastes, drawing on their love of everything from mid-90&#8217;s boom-bap to Tropicalia and library music. Rounding out the lineup are Matt Aldred on guitar and Scott Hannigan on bass. The band was started as an attempt to bring various musical influences and ideas together under a psych-rock umbrella, expanding the possibilities of heavy music. Reflecting on the name of the band Galkin acknowledges, \u201c<em>Lammping came from \u201cCold Lamping With Flavor\u201d a Public Enemy song. I guess it was our way of saying hip hop is an influence on us. We added an extra \u201cm\u201d to give it an original touch.
