Listen to <em>She Spins<\/em> via Soundcloud below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-soundcloud wp-block-embed-soundcloud\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"She Spins by Letting Up Despite Great Faults\" width=\"500\" height=\"400\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"no\" src=\"https:\/\/w.soundcloud.com\/player\/?visual=true&#038;url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F1155089455&#038;show_artwork=true&#038;maxheight=750&#038;maxwidth=500&#038;secret_token=s-CBNm2rI1GA1\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"isPasted\">Laden with introspective and vulnerable lyrics, on this latest offering vocalist and guitarist Mike Lee questions the insecurities we all feel from time to time in a relationship.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Commenting on the track, Lee explains:\u00a0<em>\u201cShe Spins is a song about that subtle jealousy you get when someone gives something to another in a way they&#8217;ve never given to you, or maybe something you&#8217;ve never seen them do that completely surprises you because you thought you knew everything about this person.\u201d<br><br>\u201cIt&#8217;s feeling that and then recognising that it&#8217;s sort of your fault for not realising that or welcoming a space for that person to open up in that way, and trying to figure out if you change for that person or you let that person have that space because that might be better for them.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"isPasted\">Letting Up Despite Great Faults was founded by Mike Lee in Los Angeles, CA. In 2006 he wrote an EP described by\u00a0NPR\u00a0as \u201c<em>beautiful, lolling music<\/em>\u201d, but it wasn\u2019t until a few years later where he would deliver the band\u2019s signature noisier and lusher soundscapes on a debut LP buzzed about all around the blogosphere, drawing praise from\u00a0Pitchfork, Consequence, Gold Flake Paint, KEXP\u00a0and more.<br><br>Pitchfork found their first single on MySpace, while Mike found his first bandmate Kent Zambrana (bass) on Craigslist. Soon after, they upped sticks and moved to Austin, TX, where they linked up with remaining members Daniel Schmidt (drums) and Annah Fisette (guitar, vocals).\u00a0<br><br>Now, after eight years, the band are back with a new full length titled \u2018IV<em>&#8216;<\/em>\u2014filled with dreamier soundscapes, and covering topics of growth, loss, and regret.<br><br>With the album mastered by Simon Scott of Slowdive, it\u2019s hard not to label it shoegaze, but from deep storytelling to catchy indie-pop melodies, they hope to show fans, both old and new, just how much they&#8217;ve grown in their little corner of the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Letting Up Despite Great Faults return to us in 2022 as a changed group. The band&#8217;s forthcoming full-length\u00a0\u2018IV\u2019 is their first album in eight years and investigates personal narratives around growth, loss, regret, and renewal.\u00a0<br><br>Sonically, the group&#8217;s sound also explores a more aggressive, forward-leaning approach, wherein Lee elected to break the shoegaze\/indiepop hermetic shield of synths and filtering.\u00a0<br><br>For\u00a0\u2018IV,\u2019 Lee realised the agency of his voice, thrusting it forward, where it was once &#8220;<em>an instrument<\/em>&#8221; in Letting Up&#8217;s gauzy yet layered expanse of sound.
