Following the success of their lead single, <em>Bug<\/em>, and its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/t.e2ma.net\/click\/nugusk\/3m9fkn\/votm9q\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">accompanying video<\/a>\u00a0released in April, <em>Splash<\/em> is available now on all\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/t.e2ma.net\/click\/nugusk\/3m9fkn\/r9um9q\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">major streaming platforms<\/a>,\u00a0inviting listeners to immerse themselves in its vibrant melodies and infectious rhythms.\u00a0<br><br>Reflecting on the inspiration behind <em>Splash<\/em>,<strong> <\/strong>Sigtryggur Baldursson, one-half of Paddan, shares, &#8220;<em>&#8216;Splash&#8217; is a track that quickly had a clear line of direction. It is built on a groove that reflects our influences from the electric funk jazz of the early 70s, which we both spent hours listening to in our early teens in K\u00f3pavogur. &#8216;Splash&#8217; became an ode to those times, and we were fortunate to have our friend Eirikur Orri bring his trumpet to the recording session, resulting in a memorable performance.&#8221;<\/em> Listen to <em>Splash<\/em> via YouTube below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/tVzieyipNXU?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Paddan&#8217;s Sigtryggur Baldursson\u00a0and\u00a0Birgir Mogensen\u00a0are lifelong friends from K\u00f3pavogur, Iceland, who started as mates on the local football team, then graduated to making music together as teenagers, and even later as young men doing time in the experimental punk collective KUKL, from 1983 &#8211; 1986. KUKL was populated by survivors of the post-punk scene in Iceland in the early 80s, which is well documented in the film Rock in Reykjavik from 1982. The band was released by the\u00a0Crass collective in London\u00a0and featured members, apart from Birgir and Sigtryggur, like\u00a0Gu\u00f0laugur \u00d3ttarsson, Einar Melax, Bj\u00f6rk\u00a0and\u00a0Einar \u00d6rn,\u00a0some of whom would become better known later in outfits like the<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Sugarcubes\u00a0and their respective solo work and other collaborations. Sigtryggur has a long career in music, having worked with among\u00a0others,\u00a0Emiliana Torrini, Howie B, Les Negresses Vertes, Tomas R. Einarsson, Petur Ben, KK, Kaktus Einarsson,\u00a0and many many others. He also produces an award-winning documentary music show for\u00a0RUV called Hlj\u00f3msk\u00e1linn.<br><br>Birgir Mogensen is a classically trained classical guitarist and bass player who has worked through the years with artists ranging from\u00a0KUKL\u00a0to\u00a0Killing Joke\u00a0to\u00a0Spilafifl\u00a0and Inferno5.<br>\u00a0<br>Birgir and Sigtryggur formed Paddan during the 2010s, and are now preparing to release their EP\u00a0<em>Fluid Time<\/em>, which has been inspired by their perception of time and space. Birgir Mogensen says, &#8220;<em> <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Recorded, produced, and arranged by the pair, Sigtryggur and Birgir play basses and drums along with various other instruments.
