The album is the follow up to their 2022\u00a0\u2018Deep In View\u2019\u00a0on\u00a0Fire Talk Records, an album that saw praise from outlets like Pitchfork, NPR, FADER,\u00a0Stereogum, Uproxx, Paste, BrooklynVegan, Consequence, Clash,\u00a0NME\u00a0and\u00a0Rolling Stone\u00a0who named the band an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/firetalkrecs.us11.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=5694861394877ae40d1c9a32c&amp;id=45b6dba7b1&amp;e=ebf8659a9b\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Artist You Need To Know<\/a>\u00a0and called their debut &#8220;<em>one of the year\u2019s most thrilling rock statements<\/em> .&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new album was announced with a single called <a href=\"http:\/\/cultureaddicts.com\/cola-annouce-new-album-the-gloss-share-pallor-tricks\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"Cola annouce new album \u2018The Gloss\u2019 +  share \u2018Pallor Tricks\u2019\"><em>Pallor Tricks<\/em><\/a>, and now the band are sharing another preview of their new LP, a track entitled <em>Albatross<\/em>. Listen to <em>Albatross<\/em> via YouTube below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/GRygPKxa0rE?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>While a degree of compact minimalism is a hallmark of the band&#8217;s sound, the tracks that have been heard from Cola&#8217;s new LP have shown a more discursive bent than their first album. The songs have more parts and more variations, and a tendency to blend an undercurrent of simmering urgency with oblique rhythms and changes of pace. <em> <\/em> is no exception, maintaining a forward momentum redolent of the race horses featured in Darcy&#8217;s lyrics, but with a contemplative element worked into the band&#8217;s spacious arrangements.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Darcy says of the track:\u00a0&#8220;<em>This song had a few lives before it took its final form. We played a much faster version on some later Deep in View tours with different lyrics. When we eventually got to the studio we revisited Ben&#8217;s original demo and decided to slow it down and re-introduce a heavier feeling. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>I then had a spark of inspiration and completely rewrote the lyrics, which center around &#8220;an albatross&#8221;&#8211;something that greatly hinders accomplishment. From there I started thinking about a horse race and perhaps some trainer watching a slow motion replay to try identify what&#8217;s wrong with an animal&#8217;s stride, hence the chorus.<\/em>&#8220;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The band&#8217;s touring in support of their new LP is already underway in Europe.
