South London\u00a0innovators\u00a0Lip Filler\u00a0release\u00a0new single Tricky<\/em>, the first new music to be heard from the band\u00a0since their\u00a0EP ‘witchescrew’ was released to widespread fanfare earlier this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lip Filler’s glowing hat tips from\u00a0BBC Radio 1\u00a0(Jack Saunders, Sian Eleri, Nels Hylton)\u00a0and\u00a0BBC 6 Music(Steve Lamacq, Amy Lam\u00e9) and\u00a0a\u00a010\/10\u00a0rating from\u00a0Bob Vylan’s Bobby Vylan on\u00a0Huw Stephens’ 6 Music Roundtable – have seen their stock\u00a0rise rapidly this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Elsewhere,\u00a0Rolling Stone UK\u00a0described\u00a0<\/strong>Lip Filler as “the innovative indie band with a rare musical alchemy<\/a>“, alongside ardent support from tastemakers such as\u00a0NME,\u00a0DIY Magazine, Dork Magazine, The Line of Best Fit,\u00a0CLASH Magazine, Wonderland Magazine, Whynow\u00a0& many more.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For new single Tricky<\/em>, Lip Filler returned to the studio with producer\u00a0St Francis Hotel\u00a0(Little Simz, Michael Kiwanuka). Freshly road-tested on\u00a0tour with\u00a0Master Peace, the song’s accompanying video was shot last month\u00a0at Electric Ballroom in Camden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Further expanding on their\u00a0bold artistic vision,\u00a0Tricky<\/em> explores\u00a0themes of betrayal, manipulation, and a conflicted desire to escape London –\u00a0spearheaded by crushing guitars, rumbling bass lines, off kilter electronics and pummelling drums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of the new single, vocalist George Tucker said:\u00a0 “All of a sudden it was summer.\u00a0I had submerged myself in a period of introspection.\u00a0At one point I remember feeling so removed that I wrote the entire opening verse on my leg with a permanent marker on the tube, to the sideward glances of commuters. After scrawling ‘I\u2019m giving up \/\u00a0I\u2019m getting out’, everything began to click. Suddenly it felt cathartic. Two weeks later I moved out of London. After we finished the hook, it ended up becoming this tongue-in-cheek pop song. I\u2019ve noticed we do that a lot. Icebergs. Hopeless anxieties smothered with surface-level sleaze. Maybe that\u2019s what Lip Filler is? I say that like any of us have a clue…”<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Operating with a renewed lease of creativity and innovation, Lip Filler are currently completing work on their third EP, due for release on their own witchescrew<\/em> imprint in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
