Producer Sanford Parker\u2019s mix gives the whole thing a seismic shove: the sub\u2011bass rattles your ribs, the snares crack like lightning, and the metallic hi\u2011hats leave sparks in their wake.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sure, the duo tip their hat to \u201990s greats\u2014think Nine Inch Nails\u2019 \u2018Broken\u2019 era, Ministry\u2019s bone\u2011crunching classic \u2018The Mind Is a Terrible Thing to Taste,\u2019 and pioneers like Front\u202f242 and Cabaret Voltaire\u2014but the core attack is unmistakably Youth Code. If their music is a warped carnival ride, the hooks on \u2018Yours, With Malice\u2019 are the cotton\u2011candy lure you can\u2019t resist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Sara Taylor even stretched her voice this time around, channeling Eartha Kitt\u2019s gravelly charm to push her vocals into new territory. \u201c<em>I\u2019ve always been insecure about singing,\u201d<\/em> she admits, \u201c<em>but if Eartha can do it with grit and grace, so can I.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They\u2019ve earned this moment. Since 2012, Ryan George and Sara Taylor have turned a self\u2011released demo cassette into full\u2011blown headlining tours\u2014from sweaty underground clubs to arena stages with Nine Inch Nails.
