NYC duo Pry<\/strong> just dropped their latest single, So Good<\/em>,<\/strong> and let\u2019s just say\u2014it\u2019s got us feeling exactly that<\/em>. Urgent, hooky, and soaked in that dreamy-meets-gritty alt-rock energy, this track is another taste of what\u2019s coming on their debut album, \u2018Wrapped in Plastic<\/strong>,\u2019 landing May 29, 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So Good<\/em> is all about waking up from life\u2019s blur and realizing you\u2019ve changed\u2014or maybe just come back to yourself. It\u2019s raw and fast-moving, with guitars that spiral and dive around Simeon Beardsley\u2019s vulnerable, no-frills vocals. Add a few subtle synths and lyrics pulled from an unfinished poem by Simeon\u2019s grandfather, and you\u2019ve got something that feels intimate but expansive, grounded yet floaty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt\u2019s about being reintroduced to yourself after living in a blur,\u201d<\/em> Pry say. \u201cIt was lightly inspired by a poem called ten roses and reading into the lines left blank.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Tracks like Tether You<\/em><\/strong> (a recent Pitchfork Selects<\/strong> pick), Heaven<\/em><\/strong>, and Greener<\/em><\/strong> have set the tone for an album that walks the line between nostalgia and fresh urgency. Think shoegaze fuzz, nu-metal grit, jangly pop, and huge emotion\u2014all in one tight package.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On May 31, Pry will celebrate Wrapped in Plastic<\/em> with an album release show<\/strong> at Night Club 101<\/strong> in NYC, alongside Crate<\/strong> and Cal Fish<\/strong>. Don\u2019t sleep on it\u2014it\u2019s shaping up to be one of those shows people talk about all summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Meet Pry<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    What started as a shared spark between Amara Bush<\/strong> and Simeon Beardsley<\/strong> in 2023 has grown into one of Brooklyn\u2019s most exciting new acts. Bush picked up bass and guitar during lockdown; Beardsley came from 15 years of DIY bands in New Mexico. Together, they started tossing demos back and forth and building songs on drum loops\u2014just two people in a room with ideas and noise. Fast forward, and they\u2019re leading a full band with a reputation for high-energy, emotionally-charged live shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Expect walls of sound, synths up front, explosive drums, and a whole lot of heart. It\u2019s indie, it\u2019s alt, it\u2019s shoegaze, it\u2019s pop\u2014it\u2019s Pry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
