They\u2019re cannonballing right into a new era with their third full-length album,&nbsp;\u2018Danger in Fives,\u2019 dropping August 8 on&nbsp;<strong>Fire Talk Records<\/strong>. Along with the big news, the trio has shared the title track (and lead single), complete with a trippy video directed by their own&nbsp;<strong>Cameron Lowe<\/strong>. And yes, a massive&nbsp;<strong>US, UK, and EU headline tour<\/strong>&nbsp;is officially on the books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If\u00a0<em>Danger in Fives<\/em> sounds like a warning \u2014 good. It\u2019s meant to. As frontwoman\u00a0<strong>Sydney Chadwick<\/strong>\u00a0puts it on the title track:\u00a0<em>\u201cSee through mind said to me, \u2018the danger comes in fives\u2019&#8230; Now we all sit in a circle and pass the danger down.\u201d<\/em> The accompanying video spins a looping day-in-the-life where everything&#8217;s familiar&#8230; until it isn&#8217;t. Think Groundhog Day, but artsier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/I1yqqU1DI_E?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>This new chapter finds\u00a0<strong>Wombo<\/strong>\u2014Chadwick (bass\/vocals), Lowe (guitar), and\u00a0<strong>Joel Taylor<\/strong>\u00a0(drums)\u2014digging deep into their creative process. Forget autopilot. They tossed out the usual writing routines, experimented with digital textures, and even dabbled with drum machines to shake things up. Some songs\u2014like <em>S.T. Tilted<\/em> and <em>Cloud 36<\/em>\u2014arrived fast, but the band spent over a year fine-tuning every detail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>We really quickly threw a lot of paint down and it was almost the picture,<\/em>\u201d Lowe says, \u201c<em>but we still tweaked it for a year.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the results? A record that feels simultaneously off-kilter and locked-in, intuitive and refined. Fans of their previous records\u2014especially 2022\u2019s&nbsp;\u2018Fairy Rust\u2019 and their 2020 debut&nbsp;\u2018Blossomlooksdownuponus\u2019\u2014will feel right at home, but&nbsp;\u2018Danger in Fives\u2019&nbsp;isn\u2019t here to reintroduce Wombo. It\u2019s a reminder: they\u2019re in full command of their sound, and they\u2019re not afraid to twist it into new shapes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>With 30+ demos and a fresh approach to songwriting,&nbsp;\u2018Danger in Fives\u2019&nbsp;feels like a breakthrough.
