The London trio just dropped a brand new single,\u00a0<em><a href=\"https:\/\/whitelies.ffm.to\/nothingonme\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Nothing On Me<\/a><\/em>, via Play It Again Sam, marking their first fresh tune since their 2022 album\u00a0\u2018As I Try Not To Fall Apart\u2019. And let us tell you\u2014this track\u00a0<em>rips<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Nothing On Me<\/em>&nbsp;sees the band diving deep into their prog rock roots while throwing in a hefty dose of krautrock rhythms and some gloriously twisted guitar work. Think Genesis-meets-ice-cream-van-in-space, all held together by a driving motorik beat. It\u2019s bold, it\u2019s weird, it\u2019s full-on White Lies doing whatever the hell they want\u2014and we\u2019re absolutely here for it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-4-3 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<span class=\"embed-youtube\" style=\"text-align:center; display: block;\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"youtube-player\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/sGqHkFgjMOo?version=3&#038;rel=1&#038;showsearch=0&#038;showinfo=1&#038;iv_load_policy=1&#038;fs=1&#038;hl=en-CA&#038;autohide=2&#038;wmode=transparent\" allowfullscreen=\"true\" style=\"border:0;\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts allow-same-origin allow-popups allow-presentation allow-popups-to-escape-sandbox\"><\/iframe><\/span>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>The track was recorded at The Church Studios in North London with producer Riley MacIntyre (you might know him from work with Ezra Collective and Arlo Parks), and mixed by the legendary Chris Coady (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Beach House, Blondshell). It&#8217;s fast, it&#8217;s intense, and according to the band, it\u2019s pretty much their most chaotic creation yet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>Here\u2019s what White Lies had to say about the track: <em>\u201cThis track welcomes you into the collaborative present mind of White Lies. It&#8217;s somewhat reckless, unhinged, full of competing ideas&#8230; We&#8217;re driving with no brakes or seat-belts. Lyrically and conceptually it&#8217;s a rebirth, and an introduction.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Musically,&nbsp;<em>Nothing On Me<\/em>&nbsp;started with a synth loop running on a totally different time signature than the rest of the band (prog fans, we see you). Inspired by prog giants like Genesis, Yes, and Gong, plus a splash of Steve Hillage absurdity, the song layers jolly, nursery-rhyme-like guitar melodies over pounding rhythms to create a wild, almost disorienting ride. It\u2019s a sonic overload\u2014and that\u2019s exactly the point. The lyrics dive into the messy, emotionally raw moments of human disconnect, especially when things get heated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fun fact: The track\u2019s foundation was recorded live in one take. Just the band, no frills, full force. It also features Seth Evans (formerly of Black Midi) on keys, adding even more punch to this already ferocious sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So yeah, White Lies aren\u2019t tiptoeing into their new era\u2014they\u2019re stomping in with fire in their boots.&nbsp;<em>Nothing On Me<\/em>&nbsp;is more than a comeback. It\u2019s a full-body reawakening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The single is just a taste of what\u2019s coming next. The band has also announced a UK\/EU tour for early 2026, so start warming up those vocal cords and prepping your road trip playlists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Need a refresher on White Lies\u2019 pedigree?
