Leeds-based sonic rebel Hang Linton<\/strong> is back with a brand new single, and it slaps<\/em>. Titled BADBADBUTGOOD<\/em><\/strong>, the track is out now via Zen F.C.<\/strong>, the tastemaking label run by the mighty Yard Act<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So what\u2019s the deal with this one? Imagine a ragga riddim, surf rock, and UK jazz all getting thrown into a blender, then someone shouting \u201cNO RULES!<\/em>\u201d and hitting pur\u00e9e. That\u2019s the vibe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

BADBADBUTGOOD<\/em><\/strong> is wild, gritty, sweaty, euphoric\u2014and according to Hang, it\u2019s \u201can anthem for the overworked and overlooked\u2014about breaking free, causing good trouble, and finding purpose in chaos.\u201d<\/em> Think The Specials<\/strong> having a chaotic dance-off with Gorillaz<\/strong> in the middle of a protest march. Oh, and there\u2019s sax\u2014courtesy of Nick Richards<\/strong> from Nubiyan Twist<\/strong>\u2014which adds that spicy, jazzy kick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re new to Hang Linton<\/strong>, let\u2019s catch you up: their sound blends avant-funk, dance-punk, and breakbeat into something raw, riotous, and refreshingly real. Armed with synths, samplers, and the spirit of counterculture, Hang\u2019s music tears through convention with wild-eyed energy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is their first release since 2024\u2019s \u2018Demonstrations\u2019 EP<\/strong>, which NME<\/strong> called \u201can ardent and uncompromising take on modern day Britain\u201d<\/em> (4\/5 stars, no less). That release put Hang squarely on the map\u2014and earned them a spot on the NME HOT 100 for 2025<\/strong> and BBC 6 Music\u2019s \u201cHot Tip\u201d<\/strong> list. Not bad, eh?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

James Smith<\/strong> from Yard Act summed it up best: \u201cI caught Hang playing at the Brudenell on a Sunday afternoon. He was singing a tune denouncing colonialism whilst also operating a sock puppet. I was instantly smitten.\u201d<\/em> Honestly, same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
