With the band tighter and more focused than ever, they set out to make something \u201c<em>more noisy, more dance-y, more electronic, and less butt rock<\/em>,\u201d as mastermind Sascha Konietzko put it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mission accomplished.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From the razor-sharp call to arms in <em>Free Your Hate<\/em> to the cold groove of <em>Real Thing<\/em>, the album moves between aggression and irony like only KMFDM can. Founded by Sascha \u201cK\u00e4pt\u2019n K\u201d Konietzko in Hamburg back in 1984, the band has always combined relentless beats, brutal guitar riffs, and a sharp eye for the sociopolitical chaos of the day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Their breakthrough came in the \u201990s via Wax Trax! Records, where hits like <em>Juke Joint Jezebel<\/em> broke them into the mainstream and landed on soundtracks from\u00a0<em>Bad Boys<\/em>\u00a0to\u00a0<em>Mortal Kombat<\/em>. Along the way, they helped light the path for bands like Rammstein and Korn\u2014yes,\u00a0<em>that<\/em>\u00a0influential.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After a brief hiatus around the turn of the millennium, KMFDM roared back, this time featuring powerhouse vocalist Lucia Cifarelli alongside Konietzko.
