It&#8217;s out now\u2014and it\u2019s the last taste from their second album\u00a0\u2018Surface Sound\u2019 which is also out now via Cosmic Glue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you&#8217;ve been keeping tabs on Sea Fever lately, you&#8217;ll know the band\u2019s been steadily building a sonic landscape that stretches from coldwave clubs to festival fields. With&nbsp;<em>Able Eyes<\/em>, they plant their flag right in the middle of both. It&#8217;s euphoric yet grounded, raw but carefully crafted\u2014indie pop with a backbone.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Pedigree You Can Hear<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>There\u2019s serious musical muscle behind Sea Fever. Members have logged time with some of the UK\u2019s most iconic bands: New Order, Johnny Marr, Haven, Section 25, Brix &amp; The Extricated\u2014and you can feel that history humming underneath&nbsp;<em>Able Eyes<\/em>. From fuzzed-out guitars and minimal, punchy electronics to Iwan Gronow\u2019s emotionally cut-glass vocals, this track wears its influences proudly while forging ahead with something very much its own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201c<em>Able Eyes&nbsp;truly signifies Sea Fever\u2019s versatility,<\/em>\u201d says Gronow. \u201c<em>Although this is not one of our dance tracks, the song still has a real, intentional pulse, mixing Velvet Underground guitars with layers of synths. Lyrically, it\u2019s nostalgic\u2014throwing back to growing up. It&#8217;s moody, but not brooding; urgent, but never overwhelming. A festival moment waiting to happen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The new single rounds out a series of lead-ups to&nbsp;<em>Surface Sound<\/em>, which began earlier this year with the club-driven swagger of&nbsp;<em>Breaking Out<\/em>&nbsp;and the simmering cool of&nbsp;<em>Loose Cut<\/em>. It\u2019s been a wild ride through different corners of Sea Fever\u2019s sonic universe, all leading to this: an ambitious second album that fully embraces the band\u2019s wide-ranging influences with more confidence than ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Album:&nbsp;\u2018Surface Sound\u2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Self-produced by the band and longtime collaborator Pete Gleadall (musical director for Pet Shop Boys, no less),&nbsp;\u2018Surface Sound\u2019&nbsp;was recorded across Greater Manchester and Cheshire. It\u2019s coming on vinyl, CD, and digital\u2014plus a special vinyl edition featuring a bonus 7\u201d with&nbsp;<em>Explanation<\/em>, their track with the late, great Denise Johnson (Primal Scream, Electronic).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Catch Them Live<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Sea Fever are bringing&nbsp;\u2018Surface Sound\u2019&nbsp;to life onstage with a run of intimate in-store sets and full-band performances. And they\u2019re doing it their way\u2014with arena-level lighting in intimate venues.
