Chicago\u2019s dreampop quintet Snowcuffs<\/strong> are back with a shimmering new single and video, Burst<\/em><\/strong>. It\u2019s the first taste of their upcoming EP \u2018Sweet Gravity,\u2019 set to arrive March 5th, 2026<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following their 2025 debut \u2018Sink Down,\u2019 this new batch of moody, textured tracks finds Snowcuffs refining their dreamy, layered sound. The EP was carefully engineered by Sanford Parker<\/strong> at Hypercube Studios (Yob, eyehategod, Darkthrone), mixed by Robert Cheek<\/strong> (Band of Horses, Tycho, Grandaddy), and mastered by Chris Goosman<\/strong> at Baseline Audio Labs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Burst<\/em>, the band dives into the overwhelming push-and-pull of modern life:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe song is about the struggle of trying to be everything at once, and what happens when inaction, ambivalence, and self-doubt slowly erode your options in life. It\u2019s inspired by the fig tree in Sylvia Plath\u2019s The Bell Jar, where each fig represents a possible future\u2014and the tragedy of wanting all of them at once.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

The track\u2019s hypnotic swirl of dueling guitars, synths, and entrancing vocals perfectly mirrors that tension. Directed by Dave Rentauskas<\/strong>, the new video is a visual trip worth taking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Snowcuffs<\/strong>\u2014formed in late 2022 from members of Lightfoils and Astrobrite\u2014craft lush, multi-layered soundscapes that drift between hazy nostalgia and fuzz-driven intensity. Think Alvvays<\/strong>, Beach House<\/strong>, and Mazzy Star<\/strong> vibes, but with their own gripping, emotional twist. Their debut EP \u2018Sink Down\u2019 earned praise for its shimmering textures and memorable hooks, and they\u2019ve shared stages with acts like Cold Gawd, Seashine, and Cigarettes for Breakfast, including a standout set at Kalamashoegazer<\/strong>, the nation\u2019s longest-running shoegaze festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
