Picture cracked highways, flickering neon signs, smoky saloons at the edge of nowhere, and forgotten gravestones half-swallowed by sand. There\u2019s bitterness in the dust, but also a strange shimmer \u2014 the kind that appears when the heat starts messing with your senses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-spotify wp-block-embed-spotify wp-embed-aspect-21-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe title=\"Spotify Embed: Shadows Forming\" style=\"border-radius: 12px\" width=\"100%\" height=\"352\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen allow=\"autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; fullscreen; picture-in-picture\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/open.spotify.com\/embed\/album\/4XU7nAeLA5uqyLd22QZmee?si=Tcrn7FA8T8qwI7HtbZXUGA&amp;utm_source=oembed\"><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><br>Musically, the album thrives on mood and minimalism. Cinematic instrumentals drift past like mirages (<em>Phantom Road<\/em>), stripped-back blues cuts deep and slow (<em>Spell<\/em>), and sharp-edged, \u201980s-tinged dance punk pulses with nervous energy (<em>Self-Defense<\/em>). There\u2019s even a hauntingly peculiar cover of\u00a0<strong>Misfits<\/strong>\u2019 <em>London Dungeon<\/em>, reimagined through Hauntees\u2019 ghostly lens.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For a debut, this is a bold, fully formed statement \u2014 and it doesn\u2019t sound like a band testing the waters. Hauntees sound certain. Committed. Unavoidable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201c<em>Hauntees is not a hobby, a job, or a voluntary choice for us. It\u2019s something we simply have to do,\u201d<\/em> the band states, dead serious and without irony.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>That conviction carries into the production. The album was recorded and mixed multiple times across different locations, with engineers Ville-Matti Koskiniemi and Miikka Sipil\u00e4 carefully shaping its atmosphere. The final master was handled by American engineer&nbsp;<strong>Taylor Deupree<\/strong>, whose touch helps unify the record\u2019s shifting moods into one continuous, shadowy drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though Hauntees officially formed in 2024, this is no rookie operation. The members are deeply embedded in Helsinki\u2019s garage rock underground, with roots in bands like The Patsy Walkers, Borderline, Charm Bags, Goo-Hags, and Lariots. That history shows \u2014&nbsp;<em>Shadows Forming<\/em>&nbsp;sounds lived-in, weathered, and confident in its own darkness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The album\u2019s opening track <em>All Over Again<\/em>, released as a single earlier this year, has already picked up international attention and radio airplay across the UK and the US, quietly spreading Hauntees\u2019 desert gospel beyond Finland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Live, the band is wasting no time. A run of post-release shows is underway, followed by select support dates with&nbsp;<strong>Toody Cole<\/strong>&nbsp;&amp; Her Band later this spring \u2014 a fitting pairing with one of punk\u2019s true lifers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2018Shadows Forming\u2019&nbsp;is out now digitally and on vinyl. This isn\u2019t just an introduction \u2014 it\u2019s a warning flare on the horizon.
